A Midwinter Night´s Dream
Prague Shakespeare Company, proudly presents a unique DOUBLE-BILL featuring two Short Shakespeare versions of timeless classics adapted into one special evening for the winter season: A Midwinter Night’s Dream and Twelfth Night.
First off is our Short Shakespeare adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream “re-seasoned” and transformed for the winter into A Midwinter Night’s Dream directed by John Blondell and Philip Parr! Set in a magical winter-wonderland forest filled with fantastical fairies, sprites and legendary creatures, this Midwinter Night’s Dream, cuts through the centuries to bring audiences a fresh, moment-by-moment take, designed to flow as effortlessly for contemporary audiences as Shakespeare’s beloved classic played to the Elizabethans. A glittering, sparkling holiday gift from PSC to audiences, this enchanting and spell-binding production will delight audiences of all ages. Then after a short interval, we proudly present our Short Shakespeare adaptation of Twelfth Night directed by Alasdair Hunter.
Shakespeare’s delightful comedy of mistaken identities and romantic entanglements is a family-friendly spectacle that promises laughter and joy for all. Set in the whimsical land of Illyria, the play follows the adventures of Viola, who, disguised as a man, finds herself at the heart of a hilarious series of misunderstandings and mishaps. With a colorful cast of characters, the play is a merry dance of romance, comedy, and playful deception perfect for audiences of all ages.
The productions star Leraldo Anzaldua, Kymberly Mellen, Ash Visker, Genevieve Gionet, Fawzia Istrabadi and participants of the PSC Winter Shakespeare Intensive, including Sofia Gonzalez, Kirsten High, Rishbah Jain, Leo Lei, Claire Mitchell, Rebekah Schmidt, Amanda Sturman, Katrina Wang and Matthew Windham and feature sound design from Mary Alice DiReinzo. Eric Sammons is the Stage Manager and Lighting Designer. Fawzia Istrabadi is the Costume Designer.
